IDMP activities in Niger and Mali
In Niger, the second meeting of the core group of the platform on the Integrated Drought Management in Niger was held on 29 September 2016. The participants adopted the institutional framework of the platform.
In Mali, the CWP in collaboration with the NGO Association d’Entraide et de Développement (AED) the partner responsible for the implementation of the IDMP activities in the rural town of Gouendo, organized a theoretical and practice training session for agricultural producers on the production techniques and use of the compost. The training was held from 17 to 20 September 2016 in the conference room of the rural commune of Gouendo. A total of 25 participants from five (5) pilot project villages took part in the training.
This training on composting aimed at not only increasing soil productivity but also helping to restore degraded lands. Composting also enables efficient management of solid and liquid waste, thus the importance of this activity was crucial for the contribution to the achievement of the project objectives. The training was an opportunity for the pilot farmers to better know the techniques used in the development of compost and the advantage of its use in connection with the valuation of land and soil.
